Family Forest School

The Forest School is a long-term process of regular sessions, rather than  one-off or infrequent visits.  The sessions run from 10am -12pm every Saturday during term time. Commitment is for a block of 6 sessions. It takes place in the same area of Oxleas woods in Greenwich.  Map of Location.

It is a unique educational experience and process that offers children the opportunity to

succeed and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning in a woodland environment, through all the seasons.

It aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners.

Ideally children alongside their parents will engage in motivating and achievable tasks and activities throughout the year and in almost all weathers. Parents will relax and play learn alongside allowing the child to lead and progress at their own pace.

A Forest School encourages children to:

•Develop personal and social skills

•Work through practical problems and challenges

•Take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.P1300805

•Use tools to create, build or manage

•Discover how they learn best

•Pursue knowledge that interests them •Learn how to manage failures

•Build confidence in decision making and evaluating risk

•Develop practical skills

•Regularly experience achievement and success

•Reflect on learning and experiences

•Develop their language and communication skills •Improve their concentration skills
